Be a man

You always hear about how boys are turning into men, or that things they do show that they're a man. But i feel that the way we show that we are men is completely wrong. Boys see that being a man means being big, strong, can beat people up and they think that if your not a man your a pussy, a girl, or a homo. This week in class we have been talking about how the media has really shaped our society into thinking about what being a man truly is. There's movies showing "strong men" blowing stuff up, or killing hundreds of men, or just being enormous. Being a high school student this is a time where there's a lot of pressure to grow up and be the man your supposed to be. But i don't think that means blowing stuff up or being able to beat up anybody. I think there's a lot of other things that goes into being a man like ambition, intelligence, loyalty, and will power. The media needs to start showing these characteristics as being manly, and not that taking a gun and killing someone is so great.
