To me silence is a little akward because of the way i have been brought up. I come from a big and loud family where everyone is in each other's business so you dont really get a chance to be alone and silent. Because of this when i am away from my family i still find that i am loud and always like to talk to someone. Whenever there's an akward silence i always try to do something to not make it as akward and turn it into a joke. It might effect our ability to be good listeners because i have realized that im not a particularly good listener, but i do try my best. I guess silence is good for taking time to listen to other people and allow them to share their thoughts and maybe take what they say and think about it. Everyone can learn something from each other so i guess silence can be a good thing every once in a while even if it seems a little bit different and akward.
